The Key to the Metaverse?
A newer metaverse project that has a unique take on granting access to different projects.
Metakey is an NFT that, once owned, can grant a player all kinds of fun and functional bonuses for use across hundreds of applications and games. But it’s also a promising NFT collectible on its own.
As the name indicates, Metakey is an NFT that unlocks a metaverse. It is not a game but unlocks special features within already existing games. All you will need is just one Metakey in your NFT collection to unlock all the potential benefits from owning one of these NFT’s.
Metakeys have been released in Editions, with 4 out at this time. Each Edition has a limited run and has been designed by a well-known artist, giving it not only scarcity but also real value as a piece of art. Each edition will feature a different artist, and as such, a Metakey isn’t just a tool to unlock bonus content and other perks, but a collectible with a real value of its own.
Currently, Metakey purchased a large piece of land in the Decentraland metaverse. On that land is a building in which the Metakey team holds their version of Shark Tank where vetted entrepreneurs(metapreneurs) pitch their ideas for the Metakey team. Members of the team or DAO then vote on feasibility and amount to fund for each pitched project.
The Metakey team has also purchased a large piece of land in the Sandbox NFT system.
Some metaverse games have granted special privileges to Metakey holders in the form of special game pieces and so forth. There are a few of these at this time but not as many as are promised. The Metakey team has offered there will be hundreds of special access NFT compatible only with your Metakey NFT.
Also, airdrops are another promise for holders of Metakey NFT. At this time it is hard to know what these airdrops are. There is more here. I suggest you look into this further.
There is also an academy for learning about NFT and all things crypto. “Quality education is the scarcest resource in the NFT space. So there is a lot of promise in this project and with an endowment of 250 ETH to work with it is possible Metakey can simply invest this money and return the proceeds of these investments to the community. They are using these funds to buy their way into other projects such as Decentraland(MANA) and Sandbox(SAND) and I am sure there will be others. Also given the current floor price of the newest version of Metakey NFT it really appears as if there is a desire to see this project succeed.
It is hard to know for sure where this project will go down the road, so do your own research and remember NFT are highly speculative investments.
