Learning Haskell in 2023
What’s New
In terms of learning Haskell in 2023, there are a variety of resources available. Here are some suggestions from the search results:
- Haskell Programming from First Principles is a popular book for beginners.
- Programming in Haskell by Graham Hutton is another popular book for beginners.
- Learn You a Haskell for Great Good is an older but still relevant book for beginners.
- Haskell in Depth from Manning is a good book for after you’ve learned the basics.
- Effective Haskell is a good book for learning best practices.
- The official Haskell manual is a good resource for language extensions.
- Haskell-docs.netlify.app is an in-progress resource that aims to be a comprehensive guide to Haskell.
- Haskell Beginners 2022 is a video course that covers basic syntax and idiomatic Haskell code.
- Get Programming with Haskell is an introductory book, followed by Haskell in Depth for intermediate level.
- Monday Morning Haskell has also been a valuable resource.
It’s worth noting that Haskell is a language with a lot of features, so it’s unlikely that any one resource will cover everything. However, starting with a beginner-friendly resource and building from there is a good approach. Additionally, it’s important to learn by need and not try to learn everything before using the language.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that there was an article on mmhaskell.com that looked at what Chat GPT thinks about Haskell. However, the article’s author later reflected that the emotional reaction to the article probably matched that of a lot of other programmers, and it’s unclear what the future holds for Haskell.
