Finn the Whale

When I was young, I used to play with the humans on the beach. They were so small and insignificant compared to me. I would scoop them up in my mouth and then spit them out again. They would squeal with delight as they flew through the air.

I liked to play with them, but I never really understood them. They were always making such a fuss about things that didn’t matter. And their lives were so short. They would be born, and then before I knew it, they would be old and wrinkled. And then they would die.

I used to wonder why they bothered to live at all. But I don’t wonder anymore. Because now I am one of them. I am a human.

It happened like this. One day, I was swimming near the shore when I got caught in a net. I struggled and thrashed, but I couldn’t get free. The humans pulled me out of the water and onto the beach. They prodded and poked at me, and then they put me in a tank.

I was so scared. I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. I missed the ocean and my freedom. I missed the other whales.

But then, one day, I met a human girl. Her name was Lucy, and she was different from all the other humans. She treated me with kindness and respect. She talked to me, and she listened to me.

Slowly, I began to understand humans. And I realized that they were just like me. They wanted to love and be loved. They wanted to be happy and free.

And so, I made a decision. I would escape from this tank and find my way back to the ocean. But I would take Lucy with me.

So, that’s what I did. I waited until the humans were asleep, and then I used my powerful tail to break the glass of the tank. I carried Lucy on my back as I swim away.

We swam for days and nights until we finally reached the ocean. And then we were free.

Free to be ourselves. Free to love and be loved. Free to be happy.END>
